8mm Film to DVD

Indiana Location
Don’t ship your films in a box to a company hundreds of miles away with no guarantee that they won’t lose your memories! We are located in Carmel, IN and have been in business since 1997.
They’ve been very rarely used over the past 25 years, but a surprising number of people still have the film reels from their old 8mm and 16mm cameras. Just because they’re old doesn’t mean these 8mm films have diminished in value. On the contrary, the precious images they contain become more and more sacred with each passing year. Don’t let these prized mementos collect dust in a shoebox somewhere—bring them back to life by letting us convert your 8mm or 16mm film to DVD.

Benefits of Converting to DVD
In our high-tech age, 8mm movie projectors are in short supply. And even if you find one, running home films on a projector is a cumbersome and tedious process. It won’t be long before your old film reels will become un-viewable, either by deterioration, or breaking and tearing.
At Keepsake Media Group, we leverage the latest technologies to convert your treasured home films from 8mm to DVD, allowing you to:
- Play your old home movies on a traditional DVD player or Blu-Ray player
- Easily jump from scene to scene at the touch of a button
- Make affordable copies for your entire family (just $5 each!)
- Label and store your DVDs securely, with the peace of mind of knowing they’ll last for years and years.
How Does it Work?

You won’t have to wait for months to convert your 8mm film to DVD. Our quick but thorough conversion process takes about two weeks to complete, however if you need something sooner, give us a call and we will be glad to expedite your project.
1. Film Preparation: Go through your old 8mm or 16mm films and do your best to order them by the date they were taken. If there are no dates noted, you can sometimes find the film processing date on the yellow box from the lab. After your film has been organized and labeled to your liking, package it securely and bring it to us.
2. Splicing: If needed, we’ll splice together individual film reels to create one long reel for a more consistent transfer.
3. Synchronization: We’ll use specially designed equipment to synchronize the frame rate of the film to the new frame rate of video to prevent flickering. The image is projected directly into a 2/3 chip broadcast-quality camera and recorded onto digital tape to preserve the highest level of detail. This also makes it easy to perform future edits and create backups of the digital tape.
4. Conversion: Once the entire set of films has been converted to digital tape, we’ll make the final transfer from 8mm film to DVD. We’ll add chapter points at every 5 minutes, along with a DVD menu that lets you play the video or skip directly to a specific chapter.
5. Finished: After we have your film on DVD, we’ll print a professional cover with a full menu and scene list. Along with your new DVD, we’ll also return all your original films and also include a digital tape of your memories for further preservation.

Never in over 10 years in business have we ever lost or damaged any of our thousands of customer’s memories. This is not something that our competition can say.
